Our Sister Guild Came to Visit!!!

On Monday, October 22nd our Cottonmill Guild sponsored our sister Guild,  The Miramichi Quilting Guild for a day, in Fredericton for a get together and sewing day of MYSTERY! We had an executive meeting in the summer, spurned on by Gail Mitchell, and we worked together, quite efficiently I would say, to plan the day.  Gail did the inviting with a great invitation and phone call, and executive members each made 2 or 3 kits for each participant from Miramichi.  In the end, we had 16 guests and 16 local members sewing (guest and member) at each table.  There was lots of laughter, talking, schmoozing and YES even sewing.   We all had a super time, I believe.  Let me take you through the day in photos.

First

Let me show you a couple of CMQG's fabulous culinary members led by Carol Hallett, who makes everything look so easy and effortless, with a delightful outcome!

Carol Hallet, deserves many kudos for her organization and artistry!  Thanks so much.

Do you think that there is enough food?

All members attending the Mystery Workshop and the Executive, contributed to "the eats".  The largest contributions, came from Carol Hallett who made the Soup, and from Jennifer Speedy who made the Pumpkin Pudding Dessert!  Thanks so much everyone!!

Aren't these centrepieces adorable?  The first members of Miramichi to finish their Mystery projects, won a centrepiece to take home with them.

Now that everyone else is finished eating,    and Carol relax and enjoy their Harvest soup, with a cute centrepiece looking out for them.  They are keeping an outlook on the Show and Tell that is happening in the room, by both Miramichi and Cottonmill members.

Second

...lets see how the class went!  I am sorry that I don't have names for everyone, but... here are the photos.

Jennifer Speedy, was our instructor extrordinaire!!!!!  She is displaying some of the kits before the class starts and the kits are handed out.

 Third

The Show and Tell, was inspiring.  The photos are not the best, (you HAVE to be quick in these circumstances!), but they should give you an idea of the variety of items shown!!

Fourth

THE mystery is unravelled and here are some finished Style Files!!

 Fifth

Here are our guests, some with their finished products, others all packed and ready to go, so their Style Files were packed too. I couldn't decide which to put on the blog, so here are both photos. We had a great day, and hope that the drive back was full of positive thoughts, and voices about our Autumn day!!

Many thanks to all the work and pleasure that went into this successful day.  Thanks to the Miramichi Guild for travelling the miles/kilometres and lugging their sewing gear and thank you for the LOVELY fall day for driving.
Quiltingly yours,
Kathy Feltmate

  1. I can safely say that everyone from MQG had a fantastic day and had plenty to talk about at our usual meeting the following evening, the Style-Files were a definite 'winner'. Thank you all.
